Pedestrian
Trail, Kinning Park, Glasgow -
Journey
Into Space
In
association with Neil Baxter Associates a study and
subsequently a scheme was produced to help improve
pedestrian links from a local subway station to the much
vaunted new Science Centre on the south banks of the Clyde
in Glasgow. By introducing new way-markers, lighting,
surface treatments, crossing details and artworks to
significantly the scheme sought to improve the journey to
and from Kinning Park Underground Station to the Glasgow
Science Centre for both visitors and locals alike.
Below is a sample of the proposals, taken from the study,
in which low key improvements are suggested with the key
principle being that small scale interventions can achieve
a far more "readable", user friendly route for pedestrians
for only a modest cost.
