Telford Toll House

The Grade B listed Toll House
is a unique design by Thomas Telford, being two storeys
high and integrated into the fabric of the Grade A listed
bridge which it formerly commanded.
Munro Associates brief was to restore and extend the toll
house, then in a derelict and dangerous condition, to
provide a family home fit for 21st century living. The
extension exploits the difficulty steeply sloping site and
simultaneous ensures the toll house remains dominant in the
overall composition.
To enable the restoration to be financed, planning
permission was sought for the construction of two new
dwellings alongside and permission was finally granted
after a protracted period and work has now begun on site.
